Living Curtain

Living Curtain is a project that came to life out of the deadness of closed blinds and drawn curtains that prevail across the urban environment. The only opportunity to express one’s personal taste to the greater populous in a multi-tenant building is through their choice of window treatment. Wood blinds, plastic blinds, white fabric, gray fabric, red velvet, etc all are stagnant and occupy between two phases, open and closed. Living curtain enlivens ones window to the outside. By installing a planter box and trellis at the sill of any window one will create a living shading device or privacy barrier depending on the species of plant. Mint was chosen for this curtain as it was not only a dense climbing plant that would grow and populate the trellis, but would also provide a wealth of fresh mint for ones baking and drinking desires. Mojitos, anyone?
