Grain Light

Grain Light was a project embarked on to further my investigation of matching and wrapping the grain of the wood across multiple sides of a given geometry. While previous projects possess continuity across four sides, Grain Light set out for continuity across all six sides of a cube. Walnut was chosen for its natural fineness and contrast of its grain due to the scale of this study. The carbon filament style bulb was chosen so that once the light was switched on the lamp’s base would not be completely washed out by an abundance of light. The chrome rocker switch marries well with the aesthetic of the bulb. This obsession to detail in every aspect of the design and fabrication process continues to echo in Grain Light.
