These units aim to provide the exhibition space, not only with the required square footage of back-lit translucent printing film, but also as the primary source of light to the space. Material and assembly techniques are adopted from contemporary thought on disaster housing futures, as well as, from emerging production technologies and high-performance sustainable material design. Comprised of a composite shell (flax woven fabric and bio-resin) and a simple exterior-grade plywood sub-frame. The interest of a “second life” for the build is satisfied by the unit’s ability to change purpose with a simple exchange of the display surfaces for a waste/recycling disposal bin-like lid. The unit changes purpose from presentation display to recycling hub.
